Dimensions Analytics - research analytics database: Subscription & logging in

Search and analyze millions of research publications connected by more than 1.3 billion citations, Altmetric data, supporting grants, datasets, clinical trials, patents and policy documents.

UCSF's Dimensions Analytics subscription

Dimensions Analytics is a linked research data resource that tracks information on publications and their citations and mentions, datasets, research funding, patents, clinical trials, and policy documents. The UCSF community has access to this online database, jointly supported by the Research Development Office (RDO) and the Library.

The seven record types in Dimensions and the number of records per category as of March 1, 2023 (134M Publications, 6M Grants, 12M Datasets, 239 Online Mentions, 933K Policy Documents, 759K Clinical trials, and 151M Patents)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Use Dimensions to:

  • Conduct topical searches across publications, datasets, policy documents, grants, clinical trials and patents
  • Find citation metrics and altmetrics attention for publications
  • Analyze research outputs of researchers and research organizations
  • Retrieve automatically-created analytics and visualizations, and export results to create your own
  • Compare organizational strengths and identify collaborators and competitors

Log into Dimensions Analytics using your UCSF SSO (Single Sign-On via MyAccess) credentials to access the subscription features of the database (see details below).

Logging in

Logging in for the first time

The entire UCSF community has access to Dimensions Analytics. Here are the steps to get you connected.

  1. Go to https://app.dimensions.ai, and click on “Log in” in the top right corner of the page.
  2. On the next screen enter your UCSF email address and click Next. You will then be asked to sign in via MyAccess using your UCSF credentials.
  3. Dimensions will send you an email with a verification code. Use it to confirm your identity in the database.
  4. You're all set! The next time you log in, simply provide your email address.

Dimensions was created by the company Digital Science in collaboration with over 100 research funders and universities around the world. It is a dynamic, easy-to-use platform that offers several ways to discover, understand and analyze the global research landscape. 

Digital Science provides a free version of the Dimensions application, however some features such as data on research organizations, funders, countries/territories, and some analytics indicators are only accessible via subscription to Dimensions Analytics.
