Grant applications for UCSF-based research are submitted through the Contracts & Grants Division of the UCSF Office of Sponsored Research. After grants are awarded, documents required for grants maintenance continue to be submitted through UCSF Contracts & Grants.
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) reviews and monitors research involving human subjects at UCSF and several affiliate institutions to ensure the ethical and equitable treatment of the research subjects.
All key personnel in UCSF-based research grants using human subjects are required to complete this online human subjects protection training at the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) site.
Research using animals at UCSF must receive prior Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from the UCSF Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and funded research follows guidelines and protocols approved by IACUC.
