Key Funding Resources

  • Pivot: Search for funding opportunities or researcher profiles
    Includes federal, private and international funding opportunities in multi-disciplines supporting research, collaborations, travel, curriculum development, conferences, and fellowships. Also includes research profiles. Pivot access is provided by the UCSF Office of Sponsored Research. Use VPN for remote access.
  • Foundation Directory Online
    Comprehensive information on private foundation funding, corporate giving programs, and grant-making public charities. The Foundation Center Library in San Francisco offers seminars and training in non-profit management at http://foundationcenter.org/sanfrancisco/. Access to Foundation Directory Online is only from terminals in the libraries at Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion. No remote access is available.
  • Grants.gov
    Grants.gov is a database resource for searching over a thousand federal grant resources, including NIH but also all other federal departments. Sign up for email alerts and to track applications.
  • NIH Office of Extramural Research (OER)
    The central resource for NIH grants, providing an overview of the grants process, application basics, peer review, award management, application deadlines, forms and grants policies and procedures. It provides a searchable database of NIH grant information.
  • NIH RePORT(ER)
    The NIH RePORT(ER) database allows discovering who has received federal grant funding in particular areas of biomedical research, and evaluating the viability and potential of your own proposals.
  • UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) - Funding Opportunities
    CTSI offers grant writing guidance along with information on funding opportunities.
