Images in these collections may be under copyright restrictions. Always determine whether and how you can use images in your teaching and learning. If you do not own the copyright for an image, do not share it publicly on a web page. AccessMedicine - Search for your topic, i.e., "oral mucosa." Then click on the IMAGES tab on the left menu bar. These images are licensed for educational use by the UCSF Library.

Color Photo Atlas of Dentistry - Dental photos from, The Center for Special Dentistry.

Finding and Using Images - A guide to finding images at UCSF and on the web.

Mouth Problems - From DermNet New Zealand, pages about skin conditions of the oral mucosa, including lips, gums, and tongue.

Netter Presenter Atlas - Downloadable images for education use. Comprises all the images from Netter: Atlas of Human Anatomy, in presentation ready format. It includes an image bank of classical anatomy and pathology examples, as well as disgnostic and radiologic images and clinical illustrations. These images are licesnsed for educational use by the UCSF Library.

NIH Image Gallery - From the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Search the image gallery for dental-related images.

Oral Cancer Images - This collection of photos contain both cancers, and non-cancerous diseases of the oral environment which may be mistaken for malignancies. Some contain a brief patient history which may add insight to the actual diagnosis of the disease. As you review these images and their descriptions, you will be presented with what the referring doctor originally diagnosed and treated the patient for. Clicking on the diagnosis button will reveal the actual results of biopsy.

Stanford BioImage Search - Search for your topic, i.e., teeth. Then click on the IMAGE tab at the top of the screen. The search results come up with tabs letting you know which copyrights are least restrictive to most restrictive. This allows you to select images that you can use without requesting copyright permissions, as well as letting you know which images you should probably request permissions for use.
